Introducing ... the Tracks on Tracks Master Playlist!
Every song mentioned here. In one place. Ready to stream.
Ever since I started this project, I’ve been keeping a playlist logging (almost) every song that gets mentioned here, whether in the essays, the “Song Diaries,” or even in the comments people have left. It’s already four hours long.
At first, this was just reflexive record keeping. But lately I’ve been finding this playlist a lot of fun to listen to. I think you might, too.
Some possible varieties of the fun:
You listen to songs you’ve read about here and, thanks to what you’ve read, you experience them in a new way.
You hear a song, can’t remember reading about it, and go back in the archives to find the relevant piece.
You find songs you love and add them to your own playlists of personal favorites, get into new bands, etc.
You enjoy the existence of a playlist that no algorithm would ever generate. These songs are neighbors only because of their shared relationship to this project. There’s something delightfully novel about that, circa 2024.
Below, you will find links to access the playlist on Apple Music and Spotify — along with a written list that links you to the place in Tracks where each song was mentioned.
I’m making this available only to paying subscribers, as a token of my appreciation. I’m thrilled with how many people have signed up in just a few months. But now I’m looking to see how many people are willing to support the project’s future. I’ll be adding more subscriber-only features like this into the mix as time goes on, with the goal of enticing more subscriptions and keeping the majority of the essays free for all. The playlist (and the corresponding text list) will be updated each week, with new songs appearing at the top.
Paid subscribers: Here you go! Thank you so much!
Free subscribers: subscribe now to unlock the playlist and all future bonus content.
